A song that has been a song of worship for me is a powerful one of oppression and freedom from oppression. I believe this is the theme that is central to the narrative found throughout the whole of
scripture I have learned from my Christian upbringing. Oppression and Freedom from oppression is the central theme throughout scripture within most religious and secular paths and walks of life. This song says in part:
Easter, for many people, is a time in which we realize that we’re being redeemed from something. Singing about this redemption, seeking and or giving thanks for freedom from something negative in our lives we are equipped to move forward. We can better ourselves. We can be there for people enabling and encouraging them to be free. This is an act of worship!
My prayer for us today, is that we’d break out of the old box that says “this is Christian” and “this is secular” or “this is worship” compared to “this is entertainment” and realize that Beauty and LOVE is something that can be found in the most unexpected places… even Reggae.
Give it a shot– set aside the weirdness factor for a minute (in reference to the above paragraph), turn up the volume, and allow some of these songs to become worship to you– because they are to me.
